Connor, or Ratohnhaké:ton, will serve as the newest assassin tasked with ridding the 18th century of Templars and bringing “liberty against ruthless tyranny in the most stylized and fluid combat experiences in the franchise to date,” the press release reads.
In the trailer, Connor is seen traversing not rooftops, but snow-covered tree limbs looking over George Washington and his troops as he gives a powerful speech. You’ll be waiting for your targets in a variety of areas: “from the vibrant, untamed frontier to the bustling colonial towns and the intense, chaotic battlefields”. The third, numbered sequel in the series will include an updated engine, character models, and AI.
The April issue of Game Informer will host more details that will surely find their way onto the internet in the coming days.
As for what the release date means for the Wii U, I’ve contacted Ubisoft for clarification.
Update: Ubisoft confirmed that the date for the Wii U version of Assassin’s Creed 3 has not been announced. The Wii U is expected to launch by the end of 2012, but it should be given an actual date at E3.
