If you are like me and managed to keep around the original “phat” Nintendo DS, apparently nothing has enticed you enough to buy any of the redesigns for the handheld. A $99 DS Lite on June 5th will probably not change your mind either. I’m also certain that you won’t bother to do the math and realize it’s a drop of around $40 (originally $129.99).
Here is something that may get your hopes up though. Basically every Mario game for the DS will now have a bright red box to help you distinguish them from the phonies. The Mario games in question are: New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS, Super Mario 64 DS, Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!, and Mario Party DS. None of the games were noted to receive a price drop, but Nintendo boasted that one of them has sold over 9.25 million copies. Guess which one. It’s new. That’s it! New Super Mario Bros. That doesn’t excite you? Well, at this point, nothing will. Hmph!
