Stephen ‘Stepto’ Toulouse Joins GAEMS

Former Xbox Live Director of Policy and Enforcement Stephen “Stepto” Toulouse joins Gaming and Entertainment Mobile Systems (GAEMS) as Director of Operations and Product Management.

GAEMS created the G155-Gaming and Entertainment Mobile System, a case that converts the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 into portable consoles.

“So for the first time I’m joining a startup company which gives me a chance not only to apply my skills in a new environment, but also to learn a metric ton about how the gaming hardware business works,” he wrote on his blog. “Those are really the key reasons for taking another job: getting a whole lot of new experience, and working on something I like myself.”

Toulouse left Microsoft in February, seeking change after working with the company for over 17 years.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Sells 1 Million Copies in the First Week

The Xbox 360 version of Minecraft broke sales records in its first week, Microsoft revealed today.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition broke digital sales records for Xbox Live Arcade, selling over one million copies to date.

Microsoft added that players have spent over 5.2 million hours online, over 4 million hours in multiplayer sessions, and over 2.4 million hours playing multiplayer since its launch last week.

More than 400,000 active players were online during the first 24-hours of its release, according to Microsoft.

The game’s original creator Markus “Notch” Persson responded to the news on Twitter: “Uhhhh, Microsoft just sent out a press release saying Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has sold a million copies in five days. Wow.”

Previously, Trials Evolution broke day one sales records with over 100,000 copies sold.
